Hong Kong’s financial market infrastructure (FMI) operator, CMU OmniClear, has activated a direct linkage with Switzerland’s SIX. The move doubles as the launch of the operator’s equity post-trade services.
The collaboration between CMU OmniClear and SIX goes back to October 2024, when the two firms signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a framework to unlock cross-border investment opportunities. With the new linkage, CMU members now have a more direct and efficient way to invest and hold securities in the Swiss and Spanish markets.
Francisco Bejar, head of custody at SIX, describes the linkage as a “milestone in advancing cross-border market access between Asia and Europe”. Stanley Chan, group CEO of CMU OmniClear, believes that extending the firm’s asset servicing platform beyond fixed income to support equities will enable more comprehensive product and client coverage.
